AIM is seeking an experienced, hands-on Quality Consultant to develop, implement and maintain a Quality Management System compliant with AS9100D.
The successful candidate will have strong experience working with manufacturing organisations and preparing them for certification, surveillance and customer audits. You will work closely with AIM’s leadership and operational teams to embed practical quality processes, maintain compliance, conduct internal audits and resolve nonconformities effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a gap analysis against AS9100D and develop a clear implementation plan.
- Build, implement and maintain AIM’s Quality Management System.
- Develop and control relevant policies, procedures, process maps, work instructions, forms and records.
- Ensure the QMS is practical, proportionate and embedded within daily manufacturing operations.
- Prepare AIM for certification, surveillance and customer audits.
- Represent AIM during external audits and confidently present and defend the organisation’s processes and compliance evidence.
- Establish and deliver a risk-based internal audit programme.Work with team members and process owners to conduct internal audits and address identified issues.
- Record, investigate and manage nonconformities through the processes defined within the QMS.
- Lead root-cause analysis, corrective action and effectiveness reviews.
- Monitor compliance with AS9100D and applicable customer, statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Support management reviews, quality objectives and performance reporting.
- Train and coach employees on AS9100D requirements and their responsibilities within the QMS.
- Promote continual improvement and help build a strong, sustainable quality culture.
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrable experience building or significantly improving an AS9100D-compliant QMS.
- Strong knowledge of AS9100D within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience preparing organisations for certification, surveillance or customer audits.
- Proven ability to represent and defend a QMS during external audits.
- Strong internal-auditing experience, including planning, reporting and follow-up.
- Practical experience managing nonconformities, root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Experience working with manufacturing, engineering, production and inspection teams.
- Ability to translate quality requirements into clear and workable business processes.
- Strong written, verbal and stakeholder-management skills.
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- AS9100D Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor qualification is desirable.
- Experience within aerospace, defence, precision engineering or another regulated manufacturing sector is desirable.
- Knowledge of AS9102, supplier quality, FMEA, control plans, SPC, 8D or related quality tools would be advantageous.
Engagement and Working Arrangements
This is a part-time consultancy position, with the working pattern and expected number of days to be agreed.
The role will require regular on-site attendance to review manufacturing processes, conduct audits, train employees and support external audits.
